✨ How berberine works in the body
Berberine is a naturally occurring plant compound found in barberry (Berberis vulgaris), which has been used in traditional herbal medicine for centuries. In recent years, berberine has attracted worldwide attention as the subject of scientific research – particularly in connection with questions about cholesterol, triglycerides, liver values and general metabolism.
Our medical team accompanied Berberstin in its own observational study with ultrasound measurement of liver fat (case series, published 2026 in the European Journal of Medical Case Reports). The results suggest favourable changes in liver fat, LDL and triglycerides – with the limitations of a small, uncontrolled observation. You can find all sources on our science page.

In the liquid format, absorption already begins in the mouth, before the product is processed further.
